India Signals Willingness to Cooperate with Russia and China
India has indicated its readiness to work closely with Russia and China, sending a strong diplomatic message even in the backdrop of strategic challenges and complex geopolitical realities. The statement comes amid recent remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration, to which India has responded with measured but firm diplomacy.
Officials have suggested that India is open to resuming regular trilateral dialogues with China, a process that had been stalled for some time. The message was conveyed on Thursday during a meeting at the Ministry of External Affairs with Chinese Foreign Minister, Vice Premier, senior officials, and Russian delegates. This meeting, attended by high-level diplomats, underscored India’s interest in deepening engagement under the Russia-India-China (RIC) framework.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar stated that discussions between Russia, India, and China are not just beneficial for the three countries, but also for promoting peace and stability at regional and global levels. He added that such cooperation is essential for addressing global challenges and strengthening the multilateral system.
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his counterparts are expected to explore avenues for mutual cooperation in various fields, signaling a possible revival of structured dialogue formats. Analysts note that this renewed engagement could also have significant implications for trade, energy, and security cooperation.
The last trilateral meeting between the three nations at the ministerial level took place in 2021 via video conference, during which the leaders exchanged views on global governance, pandemic response, and sustainable development. By expressing openness to deeper collaboration, India has reinforced its commitment to multilateral diplomacy and strategic balancing, sending a subtle but clear message to the international community about its independent foreign policy stance.
