Ayodhya to Illuminate with 2.611 Million Lamps in Grand Deepotsav
Record-breaking celebrations to take place on October 19 across Ramnagari and Saryu ghats
Ayodhya, September 3, 2025 – Ayodhya is set to script another record this year as 26.11 lakh (2.611 million) earthen lamps will be lit during the annual Deepotsav celebrations. The event, organized under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, will surpass last year’s record when over 2.5 million lamps illuminated the city, etching Ayodhya’s name in history.
The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has confirmed the target of lighting the lamps, while officials have been asked to prepare detailed execution plans. The grand Deepotsav is tentatively scheduled for October 19, 2025, coinciding with Kartik Krishna Chaturdashi, though the final date will be confirmed soon.
Lamps will be lit at Ram ki Paidi along with other ghats of the Saryu River, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. The event will also feature laser shows, drone displays, and cultural performances, turning the entire city into a radiant landscape.
Since its inception in 2017, Deepotsav has grown into a globally recognized celebration, setting new records each year. Volunteers from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University will once again play a key role in organizing the massive lamp-lighting effort.
Officials said the Ram Janmabhoomi complex will also host special rituals and festivities, symbolizing Ayodhya’s spiritual and cultural pride.
