High Court Hails Wife as Embodiment of Strength, Calls Her an Ideal Indian Woman
Despite husband’s abandonment, she has cared for in-laws for 20 years
The Madhya Pradesh High Court dismissed a man’s plea seeking divorce and instead lauded his wife’s dedication, describing her as a symbol of strength and an ideal Indian wife.
The bench of Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Vinod Kumar Dwivedi observed that despite her husband leaving her nearly two decades ago, the wife continued to live with her in-laws and devotedly took care of them. The Court noted that such conduct reflects the resilience and commitment of an ideal Indian woman, who, even in adverse circumstances, remains steadfast in her duties.
The petitioner, an officer of the Special Armed Force (SAF) posted in Bhopal, had been living separately from his wife since 2006. He accused her of cruelty and sought divorce through a local court. However, the trial court rejected his plea, finding no merit in his claims.
On appeal, the High Court upheld the lower court’s decision, remarking that the wife’s role exemplified strength and traditional values, and found no valid grounds to dissolve the marriage.
