India to Receive Support from Premier Technical Institutes in Building Drone Hub

In a significant push toward becoming a global drone hub, India will receive assistance from top-tier technical institutions to develop skilled manpower and cutting-edge research capabilities in the field of drone technology.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the establishment of 50 Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in AICTE-approved institutes across the country. These centers will work in collaboration with industry partners like iCreate to provide specialized drone training to students and professionals.

Each center will be equipped to provide hands-on training in drone manufacturing, repairs, software development, and commercial operations. The goal is to prepare a workforce that can meet the growing demand for drone applications in sectors like agriculture, defense, infrastructure, law enforcement, and logistics.

According to officials, over 25,000 students are expected to be trained in the initial phase. The curriculum will include modules for Drone Pilot Certification, Drone Technician Certification, Drone System Integration, and AI/IoT applications related to drones.

The training programs will be aligned with global standards and will prepare students for industry roles through live projects, drone simulations, and flight operations. Customized courses will also be designed for security agencies and police forces, focusing on surveillance, emergency response, and border security.

This initiative is being seen as a strategic move to bolster India’s drone ecosystem and establish its footprint in the global drone market, especially in manufacturing, innovation, and skilled workforce development.
