Lord Ganesha: The First Worshipped and Remover of All Obstacles

New Delhi, August 25, 2025 – Lord Ganesha, revered as the first deity to be worshipped and the remover of all obstacles, holds a unique place in Hindu tradition. His blessings are believed to bring peace, prosperity, and harmony into life, while also symbolizing social unity and the spirit of freedom.

According to Hindu scriptures, Ganesha was born to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Legends narrate that Parvati created Ganesha from the sandalwood paste of her body and placed him to guard her while she bathed. When Shiva attempted to enter, Ganesha stopped him, leading to a divine conflict. In anger, Shiva beheaded the boy, but upon realizing the truth, restored his life by placing the head of an elephant on him. Thus, Ganesha became known as the Vighnaharta (remover of obstacles) and was declared foremost among the gods.

Families across India will install idols of Lord Ganesha in homes and public pandals, performing daily rituals, prayers, and cultural festivities. The celebration not only honors divinity but also strengthens the spirit of togetherness and devotion among communities.
