Pending Court Challans Can Now Be Paid Online
Vehicle owners can now settle their pending court challans through an online payment facility, providing greater convenience and eliminating the need for physical visits to the court. The initiative, launched under the direction of the judiciary, is aimed at simplifying the payment process and reducing long-standing procedural delays.
The online payment option has been integrated into the official ‘E-Challan Parivahan’ portal of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The portal now features a new “Pay-Now” option, enabling users to quickly and securely make payments for challans issued for traffic violations.
To make a payment, vehicle owners must log into the portal, enter their vehicle registration number, and select the pending challan. Once payment is made, a digital receipt is generated for record-keeping. This system allows for immediate clearance of dues without the need for multiple visits to court or traffic offices.
Officials have stated that the facility will help vehicle owners avoid unnecessary legal complications and speed up the resolution of cases related to traffic fines. The new system is also expected to reduce the workload on traffic and court officials by streamlining challan settlements.
The introduction of this online service is being seen as a significant step toward digital governance, aligning with the government’s broader vision of providing citizen-friendly, tech-driven public services.
