Power Corporation Instructs Officials to Provide Easy Electricity Connections for Religious Events
The Chairman of the Power Corporation, Dr. Ashish Kumar Goyal, has directed departmental officials to ensure that electricity connections for religious events are provided smoothly and without delay. He emphasized the need for advance planning so that power supply remains uninterrupted during upcoming festivals and cultural programs.
Officials have been instructed to expedite the installation of smart meters at consumer premises and to ensure that results are communicated promptly after installing check meters. The chairman stressed that consumers must be informed about their electricity usage data clearly and in a timely manner.
During a recent video conference review meeting, Dr. Goyal highlighted the importance of improving the electricity distribution system. He directed all divisions to prepare a “success story” by selecting at least one area in their jurisdiction and demonstrating significant improvements in power supply, bill collection, line loss reduction, and prevention of electricity theft.
He also stated that regular employees’ salaries would now be linked to biometric attendance, and those failing to register their attendance biometrically would not receive their pay. Daily reviews will be conducted to ensure continuous improvement in power supply.
Furthermore, the chairman instructed strict action against employees involved in incorrect meter readings or erroneous data entry. He directed that all such personnel be dismissed from duty. A comprehensive review of these measures will be conducted by the end of the month.
The Power Corporation’s latest directives aim to enhance consumer convenience, particularly during large-scale religious gatherings, while improving operational efficiency and accountability within the electricity distribution system.
