Utthan Samiti Submits White Paper for Revival of Hindon River, Appeals to Government for Support
In a significant step toward environmental restoration, Utthan Samiti, under the leadership of Chairman Satendra Singh, has released a comprehensive white paper aimed at reviving the highly polluted Hindon River. The document was formally submitted to local administration officials along with a detailed roadmap and scientific findings from drone surveys and expert consultations.
The white paper encapsulates critical insights gathered from numerous rejuvenation efforts across India and abroad, including case studies on Rajasthan’s Arvari River and Mumbai’s Stinking Nullahs, highlighting how integrated community efforts can successfully restore even severely polluted water bodies.
Speaking at the submission, Mr. Singh emphasized, “This white paper is not just a research report—it’s an actionable roadmap. By integrating modern technology, scientific data analysis, and mass community engagement, we have laid down a clear and implementable strategy for Hindon’s revival.”
Key highlights of the white paper include:
- High-resolution drone survey analysis of Hindon’s current state
- Identification of pollution sources, encroachments, and discharge zones
- Case studies of successful river rejuvenation models
- Recommendations on scientific, social, and behavioral interventions
The white paper was the outcome of a special panel discussion titled “Hindon Manthan”, organized by Utthan Samiti. The event brought together environmental scientists, social workers, policy makers, and technocrats who deliberated on river rejuvenation strategies with a focus on public participation.
In the panel's conclusions, it was underscored that sustainable revival requires:
- Technological interventions like decentralized STPs
- Public awareness campaigns
- Institutional collaboration between civil society and local authorities
Mr. Singh handed over the white paper through a formal memorandum to the district administration, urging swift action from the government. He also stressed that this initiative could serve as a policy framework for river conservation efforts across northern India, especially for rivers facing similar degradation.
Gratitude Expressed to Key Supporters of Hindon Mahotsav
Mr. Singh also extended heartfelt thanks via social media to several dignitaries who played a pivotal role in the successful execution of Hindon Mahotsav earlier this year, including:
- Shri Atul Garg, Member of Parliament, for his unwavering support
- Shri Rajender Mittal, MP representative, for his active involvement
- Shri Abhinav Gopal (IAS), Chief Development Officer of Ghaziabad, for his exceptional guidance and administrative support
- Shri Deepak Meena (IAS), District Magistrate of Ghaziabad, for his unwavering support and guidance throughout the program.
- Shri Mayank Goyal, President BJP Ghaziabad, for his active involvement
Utthan Samiti’s continuing efforts reflect a powerful grassroots movement combining civil activism, scientific research, and administrative coordination — aiming to restore not just a river, but the environmental health and heritage of the entire region.
