Women’s Safety at Workplaces to Be Strengthened with New Online Complaint Portal
The Delhi High Court has taken a significant step toward enhancing the safety of women in workplaces by launching an online portal for filing complaints related to sexual harassment at work. The initiative aims to ensure confidentiality, empower survivors, and simplify the process of reporting such incidents.
The portal allows women to lodge complaints with a sense of privacy and confidence, making it easier to initiate proceedings in cases of workplace sexual harassment. It is expected to provide timely support, reduce procedural hurdles, and facilitate access to justice for victims.
Justice Prathiba M. Singh, who led the initiative, emphasized that legal and workplace systems must prioritize the safety and dignity of women rather than forcing them to leave their jobs due to harassment. She stressed the need to address the root causes that force women out of their professional roles, noting that retaining women in the workforce is essential for the nation’s growth.
The court underlined that women play a crucial role in national development and must be provided with a secure and encouraging work environment. By offering a streamlined, technology-based solution, the portal is expected to not only address complaints effectively but also encourage more women to come forward without fear of retaliation.
This initiative is being hailed as a forward-looking measure to ensure safer workplaces, promote gender equality, and reinforce the responsibility of institutions in safeguarding women’s rights.
