AI Devices to Be Developed at AIIMS: Revolutionizing Healthcare with Indigenous Innovation
AIIMS Delhi is set to develop indigenous AI-based medical devices in collaboration with IIT Delhi and King’s College London. The institutions signed an agreement to work on innovative technologies aimed at transforming healthcare through advanced solutions.
The collaboration focuses on the development of AI-driven tools for early disease detection, diagnostics, and treatment. Technologies like digital therapeutics, machine learning, robotics, and quantum computing will be integrated to enhance healthcare delivery and affordability. This partnership seeks to address key challenges in healthcare, including accessibility and cost-effective solutions.
Professor Randeep Guleria, Director of AIIMS, emphasized the importance of this initiative in advancing medical science and engineering. He stated that such innovations could significantly improve public health and bring affordable healthcare to underserved populations.
The project also aims to strengthen academic ties through student exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and workshops. Professor Rangarajan of IIT Delhi highlighted the transformative potential of combining engineering, medical research, and policy development.
The initiative underscores India’s commitment to leveraging AI for social good, fostering a platform for innovation that aligns with the nation’s goal of providing accessible and affordable healthcare to all.
