India’s Shree Charani Becomes World No. 1 Women’s T20I Bowler

India’s left-arm spinner Shree Charani has reached the top position in the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings for the first time, marking a major achievement in her international cricket career.

Charani earned the distinction after a brilliant performance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, where she consistently troubled opposition batters with her accurate bowling and wicket-taking ability. In the tournament, she has taken 10 wickets so far in two matches, playing a decisive role for the Indian team.

The 21-year-old bowler from Andhra Pradesh is regarded as one of the most promising spinners in women’s cricket. Her rise in the ICC rankings reflects her impressive form and growing impact at the international level.

Charani delivered a match-winning performance against Pakistan, taking three wickets for 21 runs in a high-voltage contest. She continued her strong form against New Zealand, where she claimed four wickets for 19 runs. She then produced another effective spell against South Africa, taking three wickets for 24 runs.

Following these performances, Charani climbed to the top of the ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings. England’s Linsey Smith, who had a slow start in the World Cup, slipped two places to third position. Charlie Dean moved up to second place.

Charani’s achievement is being seen as a proud moment for Indian women’s cricket. Her ability to perform under pressure and deliver important breakthroughs has strengthened India’s bowling attack and established her as one of the leading bowlers in the world.
