Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes India’s Youngest International Debutant

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi created history by becoming the youngest cricketer to represent India at the international level. The 15-year-old left-handed batter made his senior India debut in the second T20 International against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, on 4 July 2026.

At the age of 15 years and 99 days, Vaibhav broke the long-standing record of Sachin Tendulkar, who had made his India debut at the age of 16 years and 205 days in a Test match against Pakistan in 1989. He also went past Shafali Verma, who had debuted for the Indian women’s team at 15 years and 239 days.

Vaibhav received his debut cap from vice-captain Tilak Varma and became the 122nd player to represent India in T20 Internationals. His selection came after a remarkable rise in domestic and franchise cricket.

Playing for Rajasthan Royals in the 2026 Indian Premier League, Vaibhav impressed with his fearless batting and scored 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.30. He also attracted attention after scoring an 11-ball half-century for India A against Sri Lanka A.

His debut marks a major moment in Indian cricket and signals the arrival of a promising young talent.
