Apply for Subsidy on Gas Generators for Micro and Small Enterprises: Shrinath Paswan
To tackle environmental pollution, the Delhi-NCR industrial sector is being encouraged to replace diesel generators with gas-based generators. Shrinath Paswan, the local industry department officer, stated that industries switching to gas-powered generators are eligible for government subsidies. The initiative aims to promote cleaner energy solutions among micro and small enterprises (MSEs).
The government has approved a 50% subsidy on the cost of converting diesel generators to CNG generators. This incentive is available to small-scale industries in the pharmaceutical, textile, food processing, and chemical sectors, among others.
Switching a diesel generator to a CNG generator typically costs around ₹600,000 to ₹1,000,000, depending on the capacity. Gas generators with capacities of 10 kW, 40 kW, and 100 kW are being promoted for purchase. The subsidy will cover 50% of the cost for micro enterprises, with an additional 40% subsidy for small-scale industries.
For this purpose, nearly ₹170 million (₹17 crore) has been earmarked. Currently, there are more than 3,000 industries in the region that use gas-powered generators, and this subsidy aims to increase that number significantly.
Interested industries can apply online to avail this subsidy through the dedicated government portal. The government hopes that this initiative will help reduce pollution and encourage the use of cleaner energy sources in industrial operations.
