DM Orders Probe into Greater Noida Factory Fire, Safety Audits for All Units

Following a tragic fire at a sofa manufacturing unit in Greater Noida's Beta 2 locality that claimed the lives of three workers, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The fire, reportedly caused by a gas leak, engulfed the factory premises, leaving Gulfan (23), Mazhar Alam (29), and Dilshad (24) trapped and unable to escape.
Investigation and Accountability
The district administration has formed a five-member committee to examine the circumstances leading to the fire. The probe will assess the factory's adherence to safety protocols, including its failure to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department.
"The tragic incident underscores the critical importance of industrial units complying with safety norms. We are committed to ensuring accountability and preventing such occurrences in the future," Verma stated.
District-Wide Safety Audits
The DM has directed all factories in the district to undergo immediate inspections to verify compliance with fire safety norms. Weekly drives will be launched, focusing on high-density industrial zones. Strict action will be taken against units operating without valid NOCs or those found violating safety regulations.
Strengthened Safety Measures
Pradeep Kumar Chaubey, Chief Fire Officer of Gautam Budh Nagar, emphasized the need for robust safety mechanisms, stating, "Industrial sectors must prioritize safety to prevent such tragedies. Violators will face stringent penalties."
This incident has highlighted glaring lapses in safety standards, urging authorities to tighten regulations to ensure worker safety across Greater Noida's industrial units.
