Employee Accused of Leaking Data, Causing ₹100 Crore Loss

A senior HR executive of Phase One-based U-Explore Limited has filed a complaint accusing former employee Sunay Rai of leaking confidential data, allegedly resulting in losses of ₹100 crore to the company.

On the orders of the Special Court, an FIR has been registered at Phase One police station, and an investigation is underway.

According to the complaint, Sunay Rai was appointed in 2022 in various company projects as a capacity building officer. He was later promoted to a leadership role overseeing multiple plants. During this time, the company alleges he illegally copied sensitive data and shared it with rival firms.

The company further claimed that Rai offered strategic insights and proposals to competitors to help them set up operations more efficiently. He is accused of misusing company resources to cause significant financial harm.

The complaint also states that in October 2024, the company’s internal investigation team discovered evidence indicating Rai had sold sensitive information to another firm. It is alleged that he received ₹35 lakh in cash for the data and also secured employment with the rival organization.

According to the HR head, the leaked information included details about pricing, supply chains, and client contracts, which allegedly led to business losses estimated at ₹100 crore.

The court has directed the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
