Fire Services Department to Undergo Restructuring; New Posts to Be Proposed
To enhance the technical efficiency and emergency response capabilities of the Fire Services Department, the Uttar Pradesh government is initiating a major restructuring process. The department will soon propose new positions aimed at strengthening emergency services across the state.
According to Additional Director General (ADG) of Fire Services, Mr. Padamja Chauhan, the restructuring will empower the fire and emergency response system under the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Act, enabling faster and more effective deployment during disaster situations.
Chauhan noted that regulations for low-rise buildings under the department's jurisdiction have already been simplified. The introduction of a Single Window Portal in 2024 has helped resolve multiple long-standing regulatory issues.
The reorganization is expected to bring in modernized administrative frameworks, optimize manpower deployment, and ensure better preparedness in handling fire and disaster emergencies across urban and rural regions.
