Grand Convention Held to Demand Increase in EPS-95 Pension
A grand convention was organized on Sunday at the Shivdwarika Devi Dal Upadhyay Mahila Mahavidyalaya to press for the immediate increase in EPS-95 pension for retired workers, including those from sugar mills.
Addressing the gathering, National President of the EPS-95 National Struggle Committee, Commander Ashok Raut from Maharashtra, said that EPS-95 pensioners are among the most neglected sections of society and their plight must be addressed urgently. He emphasized that the struggle for pension enhancement would continue until justice is served.
Raut stated that the government must take immediate steps to implement a minimum monthly pension of ₹7,500, along with free medical facilities and dearness allowance. He warned that if the demands are not met, the movement will intensify across the country.
The convention was attended by office bearers and members of the committee from across the state, as well as representatives from various sugar mills. The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Among those present were National Treasurer Tai Narkhede, Women’s Wing National Secretary Sharlita Tai Narkhede, Committee Representative President Om Shankar Tiwari, Senior General Secretary Rajshekhar Nagar, R.O. and Nandlal Dwivedi, State Joint Secretary Upma Singh, Jaru Singh, Pratibha Mishra, Krupashankar Pandey, U.P. Mishra, Hanuman Sahay, Kanpur Mandal Convener Satyanarayan Agrawal, District President Surendra Singh, District Convener Lallan Yadav, and many others.
Speakers reiterated that the struggle will continue until the demands are met and appealed to pensioners to stay united.
