Greater Noida to Get 350-Bed ESIC Hospital; Labour Hostels Planned in Industrial Sectors

A 350-bed ESIC hospital will be established in Greater Noida to provide improved healthcare facilities to workers and their families. The proposed hospital is expected to benefit around seven lakh ESIC cardholders and will also serve patients from nearby districts.

The project has received renewed momentum after the Greater Noida Authority paid approximately ₹16 crore for the land identified for the hospital. The Labour Department has also deposited about ₹5.5 crore as part of the final phase of the land-payment process. With this, the process of clearing the land-related formalities has moved forward.

The hospital will be constructed in a phased manner and is expected to be completed by 2030. According to officials, the hospital will not only benefit workers of Gautam Budh Nagar but will also help people from neighbouring areas such as Hapur and Bulandshahr. The facility is expected to reduce the pressure on existing government hospitals and provide specialised treatment to insured workers under the ESIC scheme.

The plan for an ESIC hospital in Greater Noida has been under consideration for several years. Earlier, in 2025, the Labour Department had approved the construction of a 350-bed hospital on around 8 acres of land in the Rahul Vihar area. The proposal included employment assurance for nearly 3,000 workers during the construction and operational phases. However, the process had faced delays due to pending land-related formalities and payment issues.

Officials said that after the payment of the pending amount, the project has now moved closer to implementation. Once the remaining administrative procedures are completed, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation will begin the construction-related process.

At present, many insured workers from Greater Noida and nearby industrial areas have to travel to ESIC hospitals in Noida, Sahibabad or Delhi for major treatment. The upcoming hospital is expected to bring medical services closer to workers employed in the region’s industrial units.

Alongside the hospital project, plans are also being prepared to develop labour hostels in industrial sectors to provide affordable accommodation to workers. The initiative is aimed at supporting workers employed in Greater Noida’s industrial belt, especially those who migrate from other districts and states for employment.

According to officials, labour hostels may be developed near industrial clusters so that workers can live close to their workplaces. This would help reduce commuting difficulties, improve living conditions and support industrial productivity. The plan is being prepared in coordination with the Labour Department, Greater Noida Authority and other concerned agencies.

The report also highlights the large industrial base of Greater Noida. Several sectors, including Ecotech and other industrial areas, employ a significant number of workers. Data mentioned in the report indicates that Sector-1, Sector-16 and Sector-16B have around 4,808 industrial factories; Sector-57 and Sector-68 have around 2,193 factories; and Sector-80 to Sector-88 have around 4,107 factories. In total, more than 11,000 factories are operating in these areas.

The number of workers employed in the region is also substantial. According to the reported figures, around 12 lakh people work in factories and restaurants in Gautam Budh Nagar. This includes nearly 8 lakh workers in Greater Noida industries, 1.28 lakh domestic helpers and around 2.5 lakh workers in restaurants and MSME-related establishments.

Officials believe that healthcare facilities and affordable housing are essential for workers in rapidly expanding industrial areas. The proposed ESIC hospital and labour hostels are expected to provide major relief to the working population and strengthen the social security framework in Greater Noida’s industrial ecosystem.
