Industrial Units Must Stop Groundwater Exploitation: District Magistrate

District Magistrate Deepak Meena on Friday chaired a meeting at the Collectorate to review groundwater management in the Sahibabad industrial area. The meeting assessed the efforts being undertaken by the Municipal Corporation and directed industrial units to ensure that groundwater exploitation is completely stopped.

Municipal Commissioner Kirmil Singh Malik informed the gathering that an industrial water supply network with adequate capacity has already been established by Indrapuram and the Municipal Corporation to meet the needs of industries in Sahibabad. This system is being operated under an agency arrangement.

Currently, out of 1,445 industrial units in the region, only 1,002 have been connected to this municipal water supply network. Meena instructed that connections for the remaining units be completed without delay.

The District Magistrate emphasized that industrial units must discontinue groundwater extraction and fully rely on municipal water connections. He further instructed officials to maintain water quality and pressure and to ensure a balanced supply so that industries do not face shortages.
