Labour Laws Must Benefit Both Workers and Industries: CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the need for labour laws that are equally beneficial to both industries and workers, ensuring a balance between economic development and worker welfare.

Presiding over a high-level meeting with officials from the Labour and Industrial Development Departments, CM Yogi directed that policies and legislation must be framed to ensure that workers get security and social protection while allowing industries to operate efficiently. He emphasized that ensuring respect and dignity for workers is a state priority.

The Chief Minister also announced the development of a Model Labour Village, which will be equipped with facilities such as dormitories, toilets, drinking water, medical care, and skill training centers for workers. The initiative aims to create a safe and dignified living environment for labourers, especially those in urban areas and industrial hubs.

Yogi stated that proper mapping of labour colonies and industrial clusters should be carried out. Instructions were also given for regular health checkups, insurance coverage, and skill development training to be included in welfare schemes for labourers.

As part of this initiative, the state government plans to provide identity cards and smart cards to all registered workers under e-Shram, linking them with welfare schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Awas Yojana, and ration cards.

During the meeting, officials revealed that from 2018 to 2025, under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), over 13,800 labour families have been provided homes. In the same period, 1.36 lakh labourers have received direct benefits through various welfare schemes.
