Now Entrepreneurs Will Receive a 50% Subsidy on CNG Generators

Cabinet Decision
The Yogi government has provided major relief to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state. Entrepreneurs will now receive a 50% subsidy on the purchase of CNG-operated generators. Alongside this, it has been made mandatory to install pollution-control devices on diesel generators. This proposal by the Industrial Development Department has been approved by the Cabinet through the circulation method.

MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan stated that the approval for this proposal was given in response to directives from the National Air Quality Monitoring Agency. This decision was made after considering the issue of pollution caused by industrial activities in the National Capital Region (NCR) and surrounding areas. The government had previously informed the Supreme Court that they are making efforts to solve the pollution issue and provide relief to industries.

The subsidy on the purchase of CNG generators is expected to provide significant relief to entrepreneurs. The cost of such generators can go up to ₹1 lakh. For industries that are currently using old diesel generators, it is now compulsory to install pollution-control devices to prevent emissions. After the upgrade, they can switch to using CNG generators.

The target for the procurement season is set at 7 million tons. The Cabinet has approved this proposal through the circulation method.

Entrepreneurs Will No Longer Have to Pay Double Taxes

The government has also provided relief to entrepreneurs in 154 industrial areas in the state by eliminating the burden of double taxation. They will no longer have to pay separate taxes to both the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDC) and local municipal bodies. The responsibility for maintenance in all industrial areas will now be handed over to UPSIDC. The Cabinet approved this proposal from the Industrial Development Department through circulation on Tuesday. A total of 154 industrial areas in Uttar Pradesh fall under UPSIDC’s jurisdiction.
