Registration of All Lifts Made Mandatory in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Review Meeting Chaired by District Magistrate

In a decisive move to enhance public safety in high-rise buildings, the District Magistrate chaired a review meeting directing that all lifts installed across Noida and Greater Noida be mandatorily registered under the Uttar Pradesh Lift and Escalator Act, 2024 and the corresponding Rules of 2024. The meeting focused on preventing accidents in multi-storey buildings and ensuring strict compliance with statutory provisions.

During the session held at the Collectorate auditorium, a detailed discussion was conducted regarding the registration status of lifts installed in residential societies, hospitals, schools, hotels, commercial establishments, and industrial buildings within Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Officials reviewed the implementation of the newly enacted legislation and assessed compliance levels across various institutions.

The District Magistrate instructed that a special registration drive be conducted to ensure that all operational lifts are brought under the regulatory framework. Authorities were directed to ensure that lift owners and building managements complete registration formalities without delay. The administration emphasized that no lift should remain unregistered, given the increasing number of high-rise structures in the region.

Representatives from lift manufacturing companies, service providers, and technical experts attended the meeting along with the Assistant Director, Electrical Safety. The District Magistrate directed all lift manufacturing and servicing companies to submit a comprehensive list of lifts installed within the district to the District Magistrate’s office and the Office of Electrical Safety within two days.

Officials were also instructed to coordinate with resident welfare associations, hospitals, schools, hotels, and industrial establishments to verify lift registration certificates and Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) details. Institutions that have failed to register their lifts were directed to provide relevant information to the district administration and the Electrical Safety Department for further action.

The administration further clarified that complaints had been received regarding excessive charges being levied by certain societies and industrial establishments for lift registration and AMC services. The matter was noted for appropriate scrutiny to ensure that compliance processes remain transparent and fair.

The review meeting underscored the district administration’s commitment to enforcing safety standards in high-rise buildings and preventing lift-related accidents through strict implementation of the new legal framework.
