Renewal of Labour Welfare Schemes May Be Allowed Until September: Anurag Mishra
The Uttar Pradesh Labour Department’s web portal was shut down in February 2024, causing disruptions for workers trying to renew their registrations and apply for welfare schemes under the UP Bhawan and other construction worker welfare boards.
To ease the difficulties faced by thousands of workers, the Labour Department has extended the deadline for renewal and registration until September 2025.
Deputy Labour Commissioner Anurag Mishra stated that the web portal, which manages various schemes for registered construction workers, was closed early last year. Although an exemption was given until March to complete renewal and submit applications, many workers were still unable to comply.
According to Mishra, workers were unable to renew due to issues such as missing registration records, incomplete family details, lack of birth or death certificates, non-submission of Aadhaar verification, and non-availability of the Aadhaar-linked affidavit.
To resolve these problems, workers will now have time until September 2025 to complete online renewals and submit applications for welfare benefits.
