Service Rendered in Autonomous Bodies Will Also Count for Gratuity of Central Employees

The government informed the Rajya Sabha that for the purpose of granting gratuity to Central employees, any service rendered in autonomous bodies will also be counted.

Autonomous bodies are government institutions or organizations that, though funded and regulated by the government, enjoy functional independence.

Minister’s Statement in Rajya Sabha

Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply that the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has clarified that the service rendered in autonomous bodies can also be linked with service under the Central government system for the purpose of gratuity.

The minister informed that between 2022 and June 2025, a total of 80,36,042 public grievances had been addressed.

According to the data provided, from 2016 till now the government has cleared a backlog of 4.8 lakh pending pension cases.
