Skill Development Centres to Be Established in Defence Industrial Corridors: Yogi Adityanath
In a strategic push to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem and boost employment opportunities, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the establishment of Skill Development Centres within the state’s Defence Industrial Corridors. These centres will play a key role in aligning industrial expansion with the government’s broader vision of an “Aatmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh” (self-reliant Uttar Pradesh).
Linking Defence Corridors to Employment and Training
Presiding over a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized that the defence corridors at Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, and Aligarh must not only serve as manufacturing hubs but also as centres for technical training and skill enhancement. These institutions will help local youth acquire specialized training for defence manufacturing and allied industries, ensuring that employment opportunities are generated within the region itself.
Focus on Ganga Expressway and Eastern Economic Zone
Yogi Adityanath announced that the Ganga Expressway project is scheduled for completion by December next year, and it will act as a major industrial and economic corridor. The expressway will connect the western and eastern regions of Uttar Pradesh, facilitating smooth logistics, trade, and industrial expansion. The government has also set a target to develop industrial townships along this route, which will further accelerate investment and job creation.
Investment Deadlines and Accountability
To ensure accountability and efficient project execution, the Chief Minister directed that all industrial land allotments under the Defence Corridor and related schemes must result in visible progress within a year.
“If investments are not initiated within the stipulated time, the allotted land will be reclaimed and reassigned,” Yogi stated firmly.
He further highlighted that the Expressway network—including the Ganga, Bundelkhand, and Purvanchal expressways—forms the backbone of Uttar Pradesh’s economic transformation. These projects are set to drastically improve connectivity and make industrial zones more accessible for both investors and workers.
A Vision for Self-Reliance and Economic Growth
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to industrial self-reliance, employment-oriented growth, and infrastructure-driven development. By integrating skill training programs directly within industrial corridors, Uttar Pradesh aims to bridge the gap between industry demand and workforce capability.
Officials were also instructed to expedite land acquisition, power supply, and infrastructure works for the upcoming MSME clusters, defence parks, and electronics manufacturing zones, ensuring that Uttar Pradesh becomes one of the country’s top investment destinations in the coming years.
