State Government to Provide ₹1,413 Crore Incentive to Footwear Units
The Uttar Pradesh government will give priority in land allotment to mega units in the footwear and leather sectors. Under the Footwear, Leather, and Non-Leather Sector Development Policy 2025, an incentive package of ₹1,413 crore will be provided annually across different categories.
Incentives Based on Land Size
- For private units on plots ranging from 25 to 99 acres, a maximum incentive of ₹45 crore will be given.
- For plots of 100 acres or more, incentives up to ₹80 crore will be provided.
- Developers will get a 100% exemption on stamp duty.
Policy Announcement
On Monday, September 2, 2024, Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra approved the policy. He said the government’s aim is to strengthen the state’s leather and footwear industries in partnership with academic institutions and industrial organizations.
Infrastructure for Industry
- The state will provide developed land for footwear manufacturing.
- Large land parcels will be identified and allotted through a land bank, where integrated leather parks will be set up.
- Research & Development Centers, Centers of Excellence, and specialized institutes for footwear and leather design will be established.
Innovation and Exports
- The government will assist in setting up innovation centers for new leather products.
- To boost exports, subsidies will be provided for transportation costs.
- Support will also be extended for participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions.
