14-Year-Old Boy Weighs 140 Kilos, Family Struggles to Feed Him
A 14-year-old boy from the Sunderbans region of West Bengal weighs 140 kilograms, and his family is struggling daily to meet his food needs. Coming from a poor labor household, the family already faces hardship, and the boy’s enormous appetite has made survival even tougher.
Doctors say the child is suffering from a condition called Prader-Willi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes excessive hunger and rapid weight gain. As a result, he requires an unusually large amount of food every day.
Reports state that the boy eats nearly three kilograms of rice, 8–10 chapatis, and large portions of fish or meat daily. His family, already living in poverty, is unable to meet these extraordinary food demands.
The boy, named Laxman, has difficulty walking due to his weight and is unable to attend school regularly. His condition has drawn attention from doctors, but treatment is limited, and the family’s lack of resources makes the situation worse.
Experts warn that without medical intervention and a carefully planned diet, the child’s health could deteriorate further, as he is already showing signs of other obesity-related illnesses.
