Industries Will Specify Requirements, Government Will Prepare Skilled Human Resources
The Modi government is making continuous efforts to develop skilled human resources in alignment with industry needs for economic development. As part of this initiative, a new scheme focusing on developing skilled manpower as per industry requirements and boosting employment opportunities is being formulated.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, along with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), has initiated discussions with 75 key representatives from the human resource (HR) domain in various industries under the Leadership and Human Resource Management (HRM) Connect program.
Discussion Began With HR Heads of Major Industry Groups
The objective is to identify the specific skill requirements and challenges faced by industries. Discussions began with major industry groups, and the government, through the NSDC, is engaging with HR professionals from prominent sectors like IT, telecommunications, energy, and automotive. The outcome of these discussions will help in formulating and implementing new skill development schemes.
Industry Requirements to Shape Future Training Programs
Ved Mani Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NSDC, highlighted that this is not just a professional development exercise but a strategic initiative to map the skill requirements of the industry and create a skilled workforce accordingly.
He stated, “This program will provide inputs for enhancing the skill sets of professionals and creating new opportunities for employment. The discussions will continue to ensure that India’s human resources are aligned with global industry standards.”
Scheme Worth INR 74 Crore to Be Implemented
A special scheme worth INR 74 crore has been designed under which industries will share their present challenges and future skill requirements. This scheme will help in the creation of skilled human resources who are prepared to meet industry needs.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and NSDC will work together to address these industry challenges. Institutions and companies from various sectors will be involved in the process to ensure that India’s workforce remains competitive on a global scale.
