Armed Forces Given Full Freedom for Retaliation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, reacting strongly to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, convened a high-level meeting and gave a clear directive to the armed forces to take swift and decisive action. The Indian Army has now been granted full freedom to retaliate against terrorism in a manner, time, and place of their choosing.
In the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Manoj Pande, Air Force Chief Air Marshal V.R. Chaudhari, and Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar were present. The PM was briefed on the situation and possible responses.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said:
“The sacrifice of our brave soldiers will not go in vain. The Indian Army has the freedom to act according to the need of the hour. The time and place of the retaliation will be decided by our brave soldiers.”
Following the Pahalgam attack in Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of multiple civilians and injured many others, the Indian government has adopted a zero-tolerance stance toward terrorism. Intelligence inputs suggest that the attack was carried out with support from across the border. In light of this, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to eliminating terrorism at its roots.
Top security officials briefed the PM on ongoing counterterrorism operations and emphasized that all necessary actions are being taken to track and eliminate the perpetrators.
