ChatGPT Surpasses Competitors in Revenue Growth

AI mobile app sees 673% annual rise; crosses 318 million downloads by 2025

New Delhi, September 3, 2025 – OpenAI’s artificial intelligence mobile app ChatGPT has outpaced all its competitors in terms of revenue, according to a report by TechCrunch. Launched in May 2023, the ChatGPT app on iOS and Android platforms has already generated revenues exceeding $1 billion globally.

 

In 2025 alone, the app registered a 673% annual growth in earnings, setting new benchmarks for the AI industry. The report states that ChatGPT has been downloaded 318 million times so far, which is 2.8 times higher compared to the same period last year.

 

On a per-install basis, ChatGPT’s average revenue stands at $2.91, surpassing other AI apps. Anthropic’s Claude app earned $2.55 per install, while Elon Musk’s Grok app recorded $0.75 per install, placing them second and third respectively.

Globally, the U.S. remains the largest contributor to ChatGPT’s revenue, accounting for 38% of total earnings. Analysts suggest that the app’s rapid adoption is fueled by its integration into education, business, and creative industries, where demand for AI-driven solutions continues to rise.

 

Experts predict that with sustained innovation and expansion, ChatGPT will remain the market leader in AI mobile applications over the coming years.
