Hotels Can Now Be Built on Any Land Except Green Belt in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major policy decision to boost the state’s hotel and hospitality sector, allowing hotels to be constructed on any type of land except areas designated as green belts.

Under the new policy, hotels with up to 20 rooms can be built on roads with a minimum width of 9 meters. For hotels with more than 20 rooms, the adjoining road must be at least 12 meters wide.

The move aims to simplify regulations for the hospitality industry, making it easier for investors and entrepreneurs to set up new hotels without restrictive zoning rules, provided they comply with environmental safeguards.

The state’s tourism and urban development departments have been instructed to implement the decision and ensure that necessary approvals are processed promptly. Officials believe the change will lead to increased tourism infrastructure, job creation, and economic activity, particularly in emerging travel destinations across Uttar Pradesh.
