Household Land Rights to Get Legal Recognition, Banks Will Now Provide Loans
Municipal bodies to soon receive ₹15,000 crore
The Uttar Pradesh government has granted legal recognition to household land ownership (Gharoni) in rural areas. This move will make it easier for villagers to obtain loans against their property. The decision, approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is expected to benefit millions of families.
Major Relief for Villagers
Until now, many households faced difficulties in securing loans due to the lack of valid ownership documents. With legal recognition of Gharoni, villagers will now be able to use their property papers to obtain loans from banks, helping them meet both agricultural and domestic financial needs.
According to the government’s rural survey and records, over 90.57 lakh rural households have already been issued ownership papers under the scheme since 2020. This step will strengthen rural families economically and reduce disputes related to property rights.
Municipal Bodies to Get ₹15,000 Crore
The cabinet also approved the release of ₹15,000 crore to municipal corporations and local bodies to support infrastructure development. This funding is part of the government’s efforts to enhance urban facilities, strengthen civic bodies, and prepare them for future challenges.
Boost to Uttar Pradesh’s Economy
In addition, the cabinet announced measures to make Uttar Pradesh a leading state in footwear exports. Under the 2025–2030 export policy, the state will promote manufacturing hubs, provide incentives to exporters, and create new job opportunities in the leather and footwear industry.
This decision marks a significant step toward making Uttar Pradesh both an economic powerhouse and a model state in terms of rural and urban development.
