India Poised to Boost Exports Further in FY 2025-26: Piyush Goyal
Commerce Minister affirms resilience of Indian economy and global trade confidence
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that India will significantly increase its exports in the current financial year 2025-26. Speaking at a trade event, Goyal emphasized that India’s strong economic fundamentals and diversified markets will ensure sustained growth despite global uncertainties.
The Minister highlighted that in FY 2024-25, India had exported to 821 destinations across the world, registering a trade value of over ₹35.31 lakh crore. He said that this consistent rise demonstrates India’s expanding role in global commerce. “Every major country wants to deepen trade relations with India. This is India’s time, and the nation will not bow down under any pressure,” Goyal asserted.
Sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and IT services are expected to lead the momentum in FY 2025-26. Goyal added that trade agreements with major economies, including the United States and Europe, are opening new avenues for Indian exporters.
He also addressed concerns about India’s trade deficit, clarifying that strategic diversification of export destinations and domestic manufacturing push under schemes like Make in India will bridge gaps effectively.
Economists predict that with a favorable policy environment and robust industrial support, India’s exports in FY 2025-26 could surpass previous records, further strengthening its global economic standing.
