India to Become Telecom Product Manufacturer: Scindia
Central Communications Minister Says: Spectrum Won’t Be Allocated for Free
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that India is transitioning from being a telecom service provider to a telecom product manufacturer. He emphasized that all necessary infrastructure is being developed in the country to achieve this goal, allowing India to establish itself as a significant player in the global telecom sector. The minister was speaking at the India Mobile Congress event.
In this context, telecom manufacturing is advancing rapidly with companies like American Tower Corporation (ATC) and Samsung lining up investments and projects in India. Major technology firms and startups are also joining the effort, working on the development of indigenous telecom products and solutions.
Scindia mentioned that India's telecom sector has seen a 95% reduction in internet rates over the past decade, making services affordable for the general public. With mobile and internet services now accessible in every corner of the country, the focus is shifting towards creating high-quality data centres in line with global standards.
