India to Cross One Billion 5G Users by 2030, Says Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

India is poised to witness exponential growth in next-generation telecommunications, with projections indicating that the number of 5G users in the country will exceed one billion by 2030. The announcement reflects the rapid pace at which 5G infrastructure and adoption are expanding across the nation.

 

Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted that India has recorded one of the fastest rollouts of 5G services globally. He emphasized that the widespread deployment of this advanced technology is transforming the digital landscape and strengthening the country’s position in the global telecom sector.

 

Speaking at a national leadership conclave organized by the All India Management Association (AIMA), the minister noted that India has also emerged as the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturing hub. This achievement underscores the country’s growing capabilities in electronics manufacturing and its role in the global supply chain.

 

Reflecting on the evolution of telecom technologies, Scindia acknowledged that India had lagged behind in the adoption of 4G services. However, he pointed out that the country has rapidly caught up in the 5G era, aligning itself with global standards and technological advancements. He further expressed confidence that India aims to take a leadership role in the development and deployment of future technologies such as 6G.

 

The projected surge in 5G users is expected to drive innovation across multiple sectors, including industry, healthcare, education, and digital services. Enhanced connectivity, faster data speeds, and low latency are anticipated to unlock new opportunities for economic growth and technological transformation.

 

The government’s continued focus on digital infrastructure, policy support, and manufacturing capabilities is expected to play a crucial role in achieving these targets. As India advances toward becoming a global digital powerhouse, the expansion of 5G services is set to be a key driver of progress in the coming years.
