Initial Trials of India's Light Tank 'Zorawar' Successful
The initial trials of India's indigenous light tank 'Zorawar' were successfully conducted in the border district of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. During the firing demonstration, the tank successfully hit all its targets. Due to its light weight, it can easily reach tough terrains like the hilly regions of Ladakh.
- Development and Features: Officials stated that the Zorawar tank was developed in collaboration with DRDO's (Defence Research and Development Organisation) Combat Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) and Larsen & Toubro. It has been designed to be a light 25-ton tank to compete with China's 35-ton Type-15 light tank.
- Testing and Future Plans: The Zorawar tank was designed and prepared within a short span of two years. After completing all necessary trials, it is expected to be inducted into the Indian Army by the year 2027.
- Congratulations on Successful Trials: On the successful completion of the initial trials, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Indian Army, and all other stakeholders involved in the project.
