Medical Devices Park to Manufacture Equipment for Multiple Countries

A major Medical Devices Park is being developed with the objective of manufacturing advanced healthcare equipment not only for domestic use but also for export to several countries. The initiative aims to position the region as a global hub for medical device production and innovation.

 

Officials stated that the project will strengthen India’s capabilities in producing high-quality, affordable medical equipment across a wide range of specialties. Countries expected to benefit from exports include nations in Africa and other developing regions, where demand for cost-effective healthcare technology is steadily rising.

 

During recent high-level discussions held with domestic and international companies, representatives from the healthcare and industrial sectors expressed strong interest in investing in the park. The meetings, which included participation from industry leaders and government officials, focused on exploring collaboration opportunities, technology transfer, and manufacturing partnerships.

 

Several prominent firms engaged in the production of diagnostic equipment, imaging systems, surgical tools, and medical consumables have shown readiness to establish units within the park. Companies involved in the manufacturing of cancer treatment devices and advanced radiotherapy equipment were also part of the discussions, highlighting the park’s potential to support specialized medical technologies.

 

The project is designed to provide world-class infrastructure, including common testing facilities, certification support, and regulatory assistance. By creating an integrated ecosystem for manufacturing, research, and development, the park aims to reduce import dependence while enhancing export competitiveness.

 

Authorities indicated that companies setting up units in the park will benefit from dedicated industrial land, streamlined approvals, and access to skilled manpower. Efforts are also underway to establish internationally accredited testing laboratories to ensure that products meet global quality standards.

 

Investment commitments are expected to reach several hundred crore rupees over the coming years. Reports suggest that certain companies have already proposed investments of up to ₹250 crore to establish production facilities. Discussions are also ongoing with international firms regarding joint ventures and technical collaborations.

 

The initiative is aligned with broader efforts to promote indigenous manufacturing under national industrial development policies. By fostering innovation and encouraging domestic production of high-end medical devices, the project seeks to enhance healthcare accessibility while boosting exports.
