NVIDIA and Reliance to Build AI Computing Infrastructure in India
To promote Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation and establish a robust AI computing infrastructure, U.S.-based NVIDIA will collaborate with Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries. Both companies announced plans to use NVIDIA's advanced AI chips in the new data centre being set up by Reliance Industries.
As part of this partnership, NVIDIA will bring its high-performance computing technology to India for the first time. The American company will also contribute its accelerated computing stack to build the AI infrastructure, including GPU (Graphics Processing Units) and networking hardware, essential for running AI models and applications. This collaboration will help thousands of Indian developers and researchers by providing access to NVIDIA’s advanced AI supercomputing platform.
Reliance’s new data centre in Mumbai will host NVIDIA’s latest Blackwell AI chips. The announcement was made ahead of the NVIDIA AI Summit 2024, scheduled to be held in Mumbai, where discussions will focus on AI’s growing role in India and the global technological landscape. During his interaction with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized his vision for AI and technology as pivotal elements in India’s growth journey.
Ambani remarked that this partnership will not only enhance local computing capabilities but also position India as a global leader in AI research and development. He affirmed that India’s journey in AI will see significant support through Reliance’s and NVIDIA's joint initiatives.
