Shah: New Records of Good Governance Established Under Modi; From Northeast Development to a Naxal-Free India

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11 years in office, stating that the government has set new benchmarks in good governance. Addressing the achievements of the NDA government, Shah emphasized that under Modi’s leadership, development has reached the remotest corners of the country, from the Northeast to regions previously affected by Naxalism.

 

Shah highlighted how the government’s firm policies and sustained efforts have significantly reduced incidents of violence and improved internal security across multiple regions. He noted that the results are visible in the dramatic decline in extremist activities.

 

Marked Reduction in Naxal Violence Over 10 Years
Data shared by the Ministry of Home Affairs shows that between 2004–2014 there were 16,463 incidents of Naxal violence, compared to just 7,744 incidents between 2014–2024—a 53% reduction. Civilian deaths decreased by 70%, and fatalities among security forces fell by 73%.

 

Peace and Security in Jammu & Kashmir
Shah stated that incidents of violence in Jammu & Kashmir also saw a significant decline. Between 2004–2014, there were 7,727 total incidents, which reduced to 2,242 between 2014–2024—a 69% drop. Civilian deaths declined by 81%, while casualties among security personnel decreased by 46%.

 

Development in the Northeast
The Home Minister further added that insurgency-related violence in the Northeast dropped sharply after 2014. From June 2004 to May 2014, there were 3,327 incidents, while from June 2014 to August 2025, incidents dropped to 1,371—a 70% decline. Fatalities among civilians reduced by 70%, and security forces’ casualties fell by 85%.

 

Infrastructure and Connectivity
Shah emphasized that the government has focused on building roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure across difficult terrains. Projects completed include 226 new districts declared Naxal-free, 418 new operational camps, and improved security deployment in sensitive areas.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Shah said: “Under Modi ji’s leadership, India has achieved a remarkable transformation in law and order, peace, and inclusive development.” He concluded that the government’s record over 11 years should be remembered as a golden era of decisive governance and security reforms.
