Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep anguish over derogatory remarks made against his mother, saying such insults are not only directed at him but also at every mother and sister of India.
Speaking at a rally in Patna, Modi said:
“Those who abuse my mother should realize they are insulting all the mothers and sisters of the nation. This pain is not personal—it is shared by every family that respects its women.”
Attack on Rahul Gandhi’s Campaign
The Prime Minister made these remarks in response to statements made from the stage of Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra. Modi accused the Congress of spreading a culture of disrespect and claimed that such politics would not be accepted by the people of India.
Women’s Safety and Dignity
PM Modi emphasized that the dignity of women is at the core of Indian culture. He highlighted his government’s programs focused on women’s empowerment, including Ujjwala Yojana and Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, adding that these initiatives aim to ensure security and respect for every woman.
Bihar Bandh by Opposition
Meanwhile, opposition parties called for a Bihar Bandh on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, protesting against the government’s policies. Modi criticized the move, saying, “Bandhs do not serve people’s interests; they only cause hardship to the poor and daily wage workers.”
The Prime Minister concluded by urging people to stand against divisive politics and support a vision of dignity, development, and democracy.
