Travel to Get Easier with Four New Expressways in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the construction of four new expressways, aiming to significantly enhance connectivity to key cities like Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Haridwar. The project, with an allocation of ₹1,050 crore, will be executed under the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).

Key Highlights of the Expressway Expansion
•    Agra-Lucknow Expressway to be Connected with Ganga Expressway – This will create a seamless travel route for commuters.
•    Massive Investment in Industrial Development – Over ₹6.5 lakh crore has already been invested in industrial growth along the expressways.
•    Bundelkhand Expressway to be Linked with the Defence Industrial Corridor – The government has allocated ₹461 crore to support this development, which is expected to attract a total investment of ₹9,500 crore.

Expressways to Boost Economic Growth
The government is making significant investments in expressway projects to drive economic expansion and industrialization. The Global Investors Summit 2023 played a crucial role in attracting large-scale investments in infrastructure development.

Some of the major projects include:
•    Expressway Investment – ₹4,837.64 crore allocated for expressway expansion projects.
•    Link Expressway Construction – ₹22,400 crore estimated investment for enhancing connectivity between key industrial regions.
•    Improved Road Safety – ₹3 crore allocated for a Technology & Transport Research Park to develop better road safety measures.

Better Connectivity to Haridwar and Prayagraj
One of the major highlights is the improved connectivity to Haridwar via a new 50-km expressway stretch. This project will ensure direct and hassle-free travel between Lucknow, Prayagraj, and Haridwar, reducing travel time significantly.
Once completed, the network of expressways will boost tourism, economic growth, and inter-state connectivity, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s position as a key infrastructure hub.
