Ghaziabad Intensifies Monitoring of Pond Beautification Works under Amrit Sarovar Scheme

Four major ponds being rejuvenated; officials directed to strengthen cleaning systems

The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has stepped up monitoring of ongoing pond rejuvenation projects under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana. Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik inspected several ponds on Saturday, including those at Morta and Sadarpur, and instructed officials to ensure timely and quality completion of work.

According to the Water Works Department, rejuvenation is currently underway at four major ponds across the city. In the City Zone, the Morta pond (spread across 2.11 acres) and the Pakka pond (2.01 acres) are being restored. In the Kavinagar Zone, Sadarpur pond (5.25 acres) and Nayakphal pond (3.09 acres) are also being revived.

The Commissioner emphasized strengthening the cleaning and maintenance systems for all ponds to ensure sustainability. He further directed officials and contractors to complete the projects within the stipulated time frame, stressing that delays would not be tolerated.

The rejuvenation drive is part of broader efforts to improve water conservation, enhance urban biodiversity, and provide cleaner public spaces for residents. Authorities believe that once completed, the initiative will significantly contribute to restoring Ghaziabad’s ecological balance.
