Mumbai and Kolkata Ranked Among World's Best Cities for Liveability

New Delhi: Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata, along with Bengaluru and Hyderabad, have been ranked among the world's best cities to live in, according to a study on walking and public transport conducted by Asian and European research groups. The study found that 99.2% of the population in these cities has access to basic services within a 15-minute walking distance.
Study Across 10,000 Cities
The study covered more than 10,000 cities globally. It aimed to understand how easily people can access essential services like healthcare, education, shopping, and public transport within a 15-minute walk. In cities with such accessibility, residents have better overall quality of life, as they can fulfill most of their daily needs nearby.
European Cities Lead the Way Over America
Among the 54 cities in the world with the best liveability standards, most are European cities such as Zurich, Milan, Copenhagen, and Rotterdam. These cities ensure that 95% of the population has access to necessary services within a 15-minute walk. Indian cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata have also joined the list of the world’s best.
