Officials Directed to Intensify Monitoring of Pond Rejuvenation Works: Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner
Under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation is actively working on the rejuvenation of city ponds. Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik has instructed officials to strengthen monitoring mechanisms to ensure timely and high-quality completion of these projects.
Malik emphasised that rejuvenation of ponds is a priority task and directed the Water Works Department to accelerate the work at four key locations across the city. Currently, rejuvenation work is ongoing for ponds in Loni (2.11 hectares), Madhuban Bapudham (2.01 hectares), Karhera (5.25 hectares), and Shankar Vihar (3.09 hectares).
He also directed that the work should be executed with a focus on quality, durability, and environmental benefits. Under the Smart City initiative, the ponds will be developed with amenities such as walking tracks, plantation drives, seating arrangements, and proper lighting.
The Commissioner further instructed that photographs of progress at each site should be uploaded regularly to maintain transparency and ensure public accountability.
