One-Month Action Plan for Uninterrupted Gomti River Flow: CM Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to prepare an action plan within one month for ensuring the uninterrupted and clean flow of the Gomti River in Lucknow. He emphasized that work on the plan should commence immediately after the monsoon.

CM Yogi instructed the Water Resources Department to conduct a detailed assessment and prepare a comprehensive river rejuvenation blueprint with public participation. The plan will focus on restoring the ecological and cultural heritage of Gomti and other rivers.

He added that all water supply-related complaints should be resolved within 24 hours, and district-level committees should actively monitor the water quality. A 24x7 alert system has also been proposed to handle emergency situations swiftly.

Key Directives by the Chief Minister:

  • Prepare a detailed report for the rejuvenation and cleanliness of the Gomti River.
  • Ensure regular monitoring of water quality and address complaints within 24 hours.
  • Appoint nodal officers in all affected districts.
  • Conduct cultural awareness campaigns to promote respect for rivers.
  • Develop location-specific drainage designs for areas near the Gomti.

Status of Water Supply Projects:

  • 37,730 villages are receiving regular drinking water supply.
  • 25,166 villages have completed certification.
  • Of 42,810 problem villages, 38,161 have been resolved so far.

CM Yogi stressed the need for public representatives to personally inspect drinking water arrangements, especially in Bundelkhand, Vindhya, and Purvanchal regions, where water scarcity is critical during summer.

Efforts will also be made to rejuvenate and conserve small rivers flowing through the state. The Chief Minister reaffirmed the state's commitment to preserving India’s water-cultural heritage by revitalizing rivers and ensuring clean water access to every village.
