Over ₹238 Crore Released for NCR Cities Under Clean Air Action Plan: RRTI

The Regional Rapid Transit Infrastructure (RRTI) has released more than ₹238 crore to nine cities in the National Capital Region (NCR), including Ghaziabad, for the implementation of the Clean Air Action Plan. The allocation aims to strengthen efforts toward reducing air pollution and improving air quality in urban areas.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the funds have been disbursed to municipal bodies of Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Bahadurgarh, Panipat, Gurugram, Faridabad, Rohtak, and Sonipat. The release is part of the annual city-level air quality management program, which supports the installation of pollution control systems, dust mitigation measures, and other environmental protection activities.

Additionally, under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), ₹18.56 crore has been allocated to Ghaziabad for implementing priority measures such as road dust control, solid waste management improvements, and promotion of eco-friendly transport.

The funding is being provided through the Fifteenth Finance Commission to encourage cities to meet the national air quality standards. As per the guidelines, municipal bodies must ensure effective utilization of the funds, with periodic monitoring and reporting of the progress to the CPCB.

Authorities have stressed that public participation will be crucial for the success of the Clean Air Action Plan, and awareness drives will also be conducted to involve residents in pollution reduction efforts.
