Secondary School Students to Be Made Water Literate
The government is taking steps to link students’ education with national consciousness and moral responsibilities. As part of the academic calendar for secondary schools, initiatives related to the cleanliness and conservation of the Ganga river have been included under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” campaign.
Under this program, students will be made “water literate.” They will be connected to campaigns focusing on the cleanliness and continuous flow of the Ganga. The Education Department has instructed schools to introduce students to water conservation through sports, cultural programs, and literary activities.
The guidelines emphasize familiarizing children with the importance of water resources. Schools have also been directed to systematically organize such activities throughout the year.
National and international days, weekly programs, and related activities will be organized mandatorily. Along with promoting road safety awareness, all students will participate in cleanliness drives and conservation initiatives.
Students will also be taken to rivers, ponds, and water bodies to learn about their significance. Small exhibitions and similar interactive activities will be conducted to teach children about the importance of water conservation and management.
