Trade Shows to be Held in Every Division: Rakesh Sachan
Encouraged by the success of the UP International Trade Show 2024, the Department of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will now organize similar trade shows in all 18 divisions of the state. The department has already begun planning for this initiative, which will provide a significant platform for small-scale industries.
In the first phase, trade shows will be organized in Lucknow, Varanasi, Bareilly, Agra, and Greater Noida. While speaking to the press on Thursday, MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan mentioned that work is also underway to set up an exhibition centre in each division, providing a large platform for local industries and artisans.
Sachan highlighted that the UP International Trade Show 2024 in Greater Noida gave a new impetus to the state’s industrial development and international trade. This year, there was a 48.91% increase in participation compared to the previous event, with 425,268 participants taking part. This growth symbolizes the increasing capacity of Uttar Pradesh’s industries.
This year, the event saw significant engagement in the Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Customer (B2C) segments. There were 103,688 B2B participants and 321,580 B2C participants, which shows a 42.84% and 50.98% increase, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Sachan shared that over 2,500 industries showcased their products and services, and more than 500 foreign buyers from 70 countries participated. For the first time, Vietnam was chosen as the partner country. Vietnam aims to make significant investments in the tourism and textile sectors in the state, strengthening trade relations. The trade show generated business inquiries worth over ₹10,000 crore. Small businesses from Varanasi and artisans engaged in jute, handicrafts, and handloom sectors secured orders worth ₹5 crore each.
The MSME department’s efforts will continue to promote local industries and artisans, further boosting the state's economic growth and international trade relations.
